Joy Despite Your Past
Apr 26, 2026 • Christopher Spolar
This message explores how our past experiences—whether filled with regret or accomplishments—can chain us to patterns that steal our joy. Using Paul's letter to the Philippians, we discovered that true, lasting joy isn't found in our achievements or defined by our failures, but is anchored in Christ alone. The gospel offers us a radical truth: Jesus' past becomes our past. His righteousness covers our shame, and His finished work frees us from the exhausting pursuit of performance-based acceptance. This means we can experience circumstance-defying joy because our identity is secure in what Christ has done, not in what we've done or failed to do.
