How to Share Your Testimony in 2 Minutes
How to Share Your 2-Minute Testimony
Your story doesn’t have to be dramatic to be powerful. It’s not about how bad you were—it’s about how good God is. Whether you’re talking to a friend or posting online, your story is a chance to show someone what Jesus is really like.
Organize your story into three simple parts:
1. Without Jesus (Before) — 30 seconds
Describe your life before you encountered Jesus.
- What were you chasing?
- What did you build your identity on?
- What was missing?
Example:
“Before I met Jesus, I based everything on how successful I looked. If I failed or felt unseen, I spiraled into shame. I was exhausted, anxious, and always trying to prove myself.”
2. How Jesus Met Me (Encounter) — 45 seconds
Describe how you came to trust in Jesus.
- What opened your eyes?
- Was it a moment, a conversation, a season?
- What clicked for you about the gospel?
Example:
“During college, I heard someone talk about Jesus not just as a Savior but as someone who loved me before I ever got it together. That grace undid me. I realized I didn’t have to perform—I just had to trust Him. I asked Jesus to take over my life, and He did.”
3. With Jesus (After) — 30–45 seconds
Describe one or two real ways your life has changed.
- How is your identity or outlook different now?
- What’s still hard, but different with Jesus?
- Focus on character, not perfection.
Example:
“Life isn’t easy now, but it’s anchored. I don’t live for approval anymore—I live from it. I still mess up, but I know I’m loved. Jesus gave me peace and purpose I never had before.”
Witness in one sentence:
Close with a simple theme that ties it together:
“I used to [X], but then I met Jesus, and now I [Y].”
Example:
“I used to live for other people’s approval—but then I met Jesus, and now I live from His.”
Tips to make it shine:
- PRAY before you write or share!
- Write how you speak—keep it conversational.
- Avoid religious jargon that might confuse non-Christians
- Practice until it’s natural.
- Be real, not overly dramatic or overly polished.
- Prepare multiple versions: a 2-minute version, a 30-second “teaser,” or even a 1-sentence version for quick conversations.
- Ask God: “Who in my life needs to hear this today?”
